CUCKOO BUSH COTTAGE INFORMATION

ARRIVING AT CUCKOO BUSH COTTAGE

Cuckoo Bush Cottage is set slightly back from the road and next to the green painted Village Hall on ‘The Street’.

Pull in and park on the shingle driveway in front of the Cottage. The adjoining property to its left is a daytime studio and shares the driveway.

Please be wary if arriving when it has been wet that the pathway leading to the front of the cottage [yellow door] may be slippery.

Should I have not been able to arrange to welcome you the key pad is on the wall to the right of the yellow door and the number will be messaged to you just prior to your arrival.


SITTING ROOM

​

On entering the cottage the internal and external light switches are on the wall to the left of the door.
Please note, the standard lamp is on a 3 amp socket which is switched on by switch on the wall and not on the lamp itself.

 

CLOAK / STORAGE CUPBOARD - The door is to the right as you enter the cottage.

 

Please be especially careful to MIND YOUR HEAD as with all the doors, they are very low.

 

There is plenty of room to store your coats, walking boots etc.

HOT WATER AND HEATING

 

The boiler heating and hot water controls are in this cupboard.  Heating and Hot Water instructions are on the wall demonstrating how to switch on/off and override or add an extra 1 hour timed heating and or hot water.

 

Winter - The HEATING is programmed to come on between 7.00 am - 9.00 am and again between 3.00 - 9.30 pm

 

All Year - HOT WATER Between 7.00 am - 9.00am and again between 6.00 - 7.30 pm

 

A fire extinguisher is hung on the wall by the boiler, follow the instructions if required.

 

A first Aid Kit is on top of the boiler.

 

SHELVES IN THE CUPBOARD contain the following:-

 

Cushions and table cloths for outdoor seating area.

Roll up padded beach mattress x 2

Picnic Blanket

Pegs, indoor clothes horse and plastic laundry basket.

Kindling, newspapers, firelighters and matches.

Various kitchen items.

There is an empty shelf for your own items.

A smart TELEVISION is on the wall above the wood burner enclosed in a decorated cupboard.  To open the doors pull forward from the bottom edge.
Netflix and other subscription channels can be activated with your own account passwords but please remember to log out before leaving the cottage.

 

The wood burner is easy to light and will be laid ready.

 

We have provided you with a small basket of logs which is probably enough for two evenings.

 

A further basket of logs can be purchased for £7 and can be found at the back of the cottage under the canopy of the black shed.  Please leave the money on the table or transfer into the following account.

A CARBON MONOXIDE ALARM is fitted in the alcove of the sitting room at the correct distance from the wood-burner .

 

BOOKS and MAGAZINES - help yourself  and return as normal.  There is also an Ordinance Survey map of the area and a  booklet showing local walks.

 

CUPBOARD UNDER THE STAIRS

In this cupboard the hoover, dustpan and brush etc are stored.

KITCHEN

​

MIND YOU HEAD as you go through the door into the kitchen and again as you enter the bathroom from the kitchen.

​

The SINK has a washing up bowl, dishcloth, soap and washing up liquid on the side. Under the sink is a bucket, dishwasher tablets and rinse aid. Washing machine tablets, hand-wash liquid and bin bags are also kept here.

​

RECYCLED WASTE. There is a dedicated bin in the drive for cardboard, plastics, tin foil and glass. There is also a bin is for general waste.

​

FIRE BLANKET - top shelf in the kitchen drawer unit.


For guests use we have pre-supplied the following:-
Coffee / Tea / Milk / Sugar / Butter / Bread / Marmalade / salt / pepper / Olive oil

BATHROOM

​

The bathroom is accessed through the kitchen and features an original Victorian bath, hand made tiles and vintage sanitary ware.

​

For guests use we have pre-supplied the following:- Shampoo / Conditioner/ Bath salts / Soap Bathroom towels, bath mat and flannel.



There is a shaver socket on the wall by the sink.

STAIRS

​

Going up the stairs, the light switch is on the the fireplace wall to the left of the stair door.

​

There is a night light in the sitting room and one on the landing upstairs. These should be switched on at night for safety and to aid visibility.  The stairs are twisty and are not easy to climb if you have mobility issues.  Care must  be taken when ascending and descending. 

​

CAUTION - As you look at yourself in the tall mirror on the landing, be aware of the low bedroom door as it is very easy to walk backwards and hit your head, as I have done myself!

​

MAIN BEDROOM

​

The bedroom has a comfortable standard double bed, with good reading lights and lots of pillows.

​

A small analogue television is on the wall opposite the bed, with a remote controller on the dressing table.

​

There are two cupboard doors, the one of the left houses the water tank and is not for use by guests. The cupboard on the right is a walk in space with rail with coat hangers and space to store a suitcase. On the shelves you will find, beach towels, bath towels, blankets etc
There are three empty shelves for guests use.

To the back of the cupboard is an ironing board.
The iron is kept in a basket on the floor along with the hairdryer.

SECOND BEDROOM

​

The small bedroom has a 2'6" x 6'2" mattress. The room was not able to take a standard single bed, however, it is a comfortable bed nevertheless. 

​

OUTSIDE

​

There is a small paved out door seating area with a metal table and chairs. [Cushion pads are in the Storage / Cloak cupboard as are tablecloths and some white peg weights to hold down the tablecloths.] This is a private area and is not overlooked.

​

EMERGENCIES   

​

I sincerely hope you do not have need for medical assistance whilst you are at the Cottage as it is difficult to recommend a Doctor etc. However, there is a walk in centre in Norwich - 45 mins away. https://www.norwichwalkincentre.co.uk/
A&E - Norwich is the nearest from the Cottage.
